Self-esteem

Self-esteem is how we value ourselves and our confidence in our abilities to succeed. We may feel positive, but we also may have feelings of negativity and criticize ourselves. Our negative self-esteem can influence our mental health, our relationships with friends and family, and our efforts in work or school. It can also affect our motivation and our drive. However, there are coping strategies to get you back on track and thinking more positively. Our counselors can help you understand what the negative thoughts are trying to tell you and how to recognize that when these negative messages are becoming intrusive, we can ignore them and tell ourselves they are untrue. Counseling can help you to explore the way you feel and how to change your view of yourself and others to create a more positive headspace for you to ease the anxiety that your negative self-esteem is causing.
