Pregnancy can be an overwhelming and daunting time, but it can also be thrilling. However, you may feel pressure to be happy and excited.

A 'perinatal' mental health problem is one that you can experience any time from becoming pregnant up to a year after you give birth. 

There are various issues that may arise before, during or after pregnancy. Our counselors can help to find ways of coping with depression and ease your stress, worries, and overwhelming feelings of doubt and confidence. You may also have pre-existing mental health problems before becoming pregnant, and some women can develop mental health problems as a result of pregnancy. However, this is very normal and is seen in many women throughout their pregnancy journey, so you are not alone in these feelings.

Some women also experience Postpartum Depression, in which there is a dramatic drop in your hormones leaving you feeling tired, empty, sad, unmotivated and depressed. Looking after a baby can be stressful and challenging for anyone, and it can be even tougher if you're dealing with postnatal depression as well.
